Holiday Shopping?

Producing a book can be roughly divided into three parts. Writing the story is only the first third. Then there’s editing, revising and proofreading–sometimes over and over. My current work-in-progress is on draft 11B. As John Irving said, “Half my life is an act of revision.” And finally, for me, the most difficult part–marketing! Whether indie published or with one of the Big Five, authors are expected to promote their own books.

Even though I’ve lived the last 50 years in California, I was born and raised in South Dakota and I’m a reserved, understated Midwesterner by nature. It is very difficult for me to say, “Please consider buying my book.”

But, if you have a mystery reader on your holiday shopping list, please consider buying him/her my book.

The first book in a seven-book series.

Murder, Honey, the initial book in my series, is set during the holiday season. When the head chef collapses into baker Carol Sabala’s cookie dough, she is thrust into her first murder investigation.

Don’t be misled by the baker/amateur sleuth protagonist. The Carol Sabala mysteries are NOT culinary cozies. Think of them as more like Sue Grafton with a dash of Janet Evanovich’s humor and language. Through the series, part of Carol Sabala’s character arc is movement toward becoming an official private investigator.

If you would like to have the book autographed for the recipient, you can buy the book from me (supply limited and only shipped to addresses in the U.S.). Or, I can send you a signed bookplate. Contact me at .

Or, maybe consider this deal. The last piece written for the series was a short story prequel, also set during the holiday season!

Thank you to my readers and supporters! Happy, happy holidays to all.
