Beautiful Vancouver, BC, here I come: Left Coast Crime Convention, March 28-31st.
Five homies from Santa Cruz Women of Mystery will be there–same five as LCC Reno.
My schedule is packed. Besides the many events I want to attend like the always hilarious Burning Love: The Sex Panel, I’ll be helping at Registration on Thursday morning 8:15 -10. If you’re attending, maybe I’ll see you there. Thursday at 5:00 is the big launch for the NorCal Sisters in Crime’s first anthology FAULT LINES. At least ten of the authors, including me, will be at the Grain Tasting Bar in the hotel’s Main Lobby to regale you and perhaps to share bits of our stories. Your first beer or wine is on us. I’ll need to hold back. I’m a serious lightweight and later in the evening, after the opening ceremonies, Mystery Writers of America will be meeting for drinks at the Hyatt Bar.
Saturday bright and early, members of the Guppies will stake out their own table at the breakfast. Come by and say hello to members of this national and largest chapter of Sisters in Crime. I haven’t heard any announcement that the Guppies new fifth anthology will be ready for LCC. However, I am supposedly going to introduce FISHY BUSINESS at the NorCal Sisters in Crime Showcase on April 6th, at Books Inc. in Alameda (12:30-2:30), so who knows *much shrugging*.
In the meantime, if you’d like to get a little taste of my writing, I have a “You Had Me At” five-minute reading at Left Coast Crime, 10 a.m. Saturday. I’ll be reading from my story “Miscalculation” in SANTA CRUZ NOIR. There’s just enough time to duck in and hear me before the infamous Liars Panel.
Finally, on Sunday at 9 a.m. moderator Bryan Robinson will lead panelists John Billheimer, Elena Hartwell, Heather Young and me through a rousing discussion of Setting as Character. Set your alarm. 🙂
Back home, I’ll be on a panel at the Porter Library in Soquel, CA entertaining folks with tales of the weird and wacky from the anthology SANTA CRUZ WEIRD. Wednesday, April 10, at 10 a.m.
