Lostart Street Launch

Whew! What a fabulous, exhausting whirlwind!

I was interviewed by our local treasure Wallace Baine for the local Sentinel newspaper. Little did I know that the article about me and Lostart Street would wind up on the front page on June 5, 2017! Mystery novelist shares her story. Wow!

On June 3, I participated in the Sisters in Crime Booth at the Bay Area Book Festival. My new book Lostart Street is not really a mystery, but I brought it with me to display, along with my cool new swag pencils that say Vinnie Hansen — Mystery Writer. I almost had them engraved with Vinnie Hansen, writer of deadly fiction. But I stepped back from that brink! 🙂

On June 6th I was on the air for an interview by Bruce Bratton, another Santa Cruz icon. He actually read Lostart Street and ended up providing me with this lovely blurb, “more than mystery or a murder, it’s the atmosphere and the people that will grab you.”

And finally, the big night, the launch at Bookshop on June 8th. I was nervous. I was competing with graduations and early vacations. Thank God there wasn’t also a Warriors game! Several of my personal friends had already told me they couldn’t come. As a local author with a book from a small press, my appearances at the book store are totally dependent on drawing a crowd and selling books. So even though I’d done a stellar job on lining up publicity, including a pop-out in the weekly Good Times, I fretted. Needlessly. Friends from All in Good Time Orchestra really helped to fill the place to SRO. And, better yet, I sold out of books.

I felt unbelievably supported. So much love. My nervousness evaporated and I had a great time.

Look at these gorgeous covers!
