On March 28th my second Covid shot finished marinating. To top off the day, I signed a contract with Mystery Weekly Magazine to publish my story “Try Again.”

What a great experience. I submitted. A few weeks later, they accepted and that same day sent me the contract and payment!

Then a couple of days ago, Yellow Mama took my story “Dead Revival,” to be published in its August issue. This is a non-paying gig, but the editor’s enthusiasm for the story makes it all worthwhile.

The “Dead” in “Dead Revival” refers to the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead archives are located here in Santa Cruz at the university library. This was a very fun story to research and I’m thrilled it has found a home.

Jerry Garcia doll.
