The News Continues!

With the pandemic and now our fires, I did not expect to have so much wonderful news to report.

On Saturday, September 12 at noon PT, I’ll be on a Zoom short story panel sponsored by NorCal Sisters in Crime. I am swooning to be on “stage” with Art Taylor, my absolute favorite mystery short story writer. I admire all the participants–Gigi Pandian, Nancy Tingley, and moderator Terry Shames. Space at this FREE event is limited to 100, so sign up on Eventbrite now.

In July, I had hoped to be honing my blackjack skills in anticipation of my first time at the small Public Safety Writers Association Conference in Las Vegas. But, well, you know. This particular conference was postponed. However, PSWA still presented their awards for this year. I took both second and third place in Best Published Short Story. Respectively, the awards went to “The Last Word” in Fault Lines and “Room and Board” in Fishy Business.

To add to the excitement, my publisher, misterio press, has a new Facebook group for mystery readers with giveaways, contests, and so much more. Misterio authors will take weekly shifts hosting and will share interesting background tidbits related to their stories, Q&A’s, book discussions, fave recipes, and maybe a magic spell or two from our paranormal authors. My first hosting will begin August 31st.

Come and join the fun!

And finally, I just had a creative non-fiction piece accepted for the winter issue of Catamaran Literary Reader. It’s been one of my goals to break into this market–a local, lovely, prestigious magazine. I’ve submitted a couple of times in the past. This is my first acceptance! I’ll post more when the magazine is out.

Stay safe, everyone!
